Arly's MapleStory Adventures

Written by Arladerus on September 4, 2013
I started playing MapleStory again.

It happened some time at the end of April. My roommate, Zachary, had an urge to play a "grindy" game, and the one most familiar to him (and me) is MapleStory. Hearing this, I got excited and declared that I, too, would join him on his conquest for victory.

So, I created a new character. There was obviously no point for me to play my Dawn Warrior anymore (IGN Arladerus) since it was already level 120, which is (until in two days) the max level for Cygnus Knights. As some of you may know, I've always been a huge fan of the whole " holy knight" concept, which is where my decision of making a Dawn Warrior stems from. If I were to make, say, a thief or pirate, there would have been absolutely no way that I would have had the motivation to level my character extensively. Fortunately for me, they actually released a class that is extremely similar to the Dawn Warrior: Mihile. At Ereve, the Cygnus Knights island, there are 5 Captain Knights who lead the Cygnus Knights and provide the job advancement quests for them. Mihile is the Captain Knight of the Dawn Warriors. Basically, the Mihile class allows me to play the "holy knight", and allows me to level it guilt-free, since it will not be capped at level 120. (As alluded to previously though, three of the Cygnus Knight classes including the Dawn Warrior will be revamped in two days, increasing their level cap to 250. However, they are now forced to use two-handed swords, and I personally much prefer one-handed swords.)

My ranking on my Dawn Warrior before the patch fucks up everything.

I made my Mihile at a lucky time: There had been an event where players of certain classes received bonus experience.
Level 1-29, +100% EXP
Level 30-69, +50% EXP
Level 70-119, +20% EXP
I reached level 100 in a week.

They also gave out free permanent NX stuff during this time. David says I look gay.

Eventually, I reached level 145 and stopped playing. I had lost interest, and so had my friend. Until recently. I started playing again soon after the release of the Xenon class. My Mihile is now level 170.

Damn that sword is nice.

Current rank of my Mihile.

Did I mention the Xenon class? I made one. They're pretty overpowered; they are probably going to get nerfed in the patch two days from now. Since it was a new account, it came with a bunch of goodies, most notably a free (temporary) dragon pet, and a bunch of cosmetic coupons, some VIP and some REG. I took my chances with the REG hair coupon and it turned out okay.

I went from this...

To yellow (on the right)...

Then red (second from left).

A few days later, MapleStory had a hair event thing, where everybody was given a free hair style coupon. The name of the hairstyle was shown on the coupon, and you were given the style when you double-clicked the Use item. It turns out that I received the rarest hair possible to get in this event, so I decided to use it. At first, I actually preferred the old hair to this hair. Eventually though, I grew content with my decision.

Oh yeah. My Xenon is level 175. Maybe 180 by the time you read this blog.

Yo man. Gotta get to plat.
