Starcraft II: A Stroke of Luck

Hello all again! You're probably all sick of me cluttering up the blog tab with Starcraft II posts, but hey, you haven't made many blogs since, so I have free rein on making additional blogs.

Slowly Killing Me

This match is a full-fury Terran 2v2 on Discord IV. Heck, it's the most popular map (supposedly), so why not settle for it?

The game started seemingly benign enough. I stuck with my personal build: massing as many marines...

Starcraft II: Unorthodox? No, I'm Atheist

It's darkness here and I'm here to blog about a pair of rather unusual games as of late!

Early Bird?

In this first game, I am playing Terran vs. Terran (known to the higher-up as TvT, appropriately) on Xel'Naga Caverns. I thought, hey, I've been playing Discord IV for such a while, maybe I've improved well enough to try a 1v1 fight.

What subsequently happened... well, I wouldn't call it a test of my knowledge.

I'm on the...

Starcraft II: Terran Overload

It's me again, and we're back to more blogging about games I've played (could be better if I knew how to upload the replays, but that's me for you).

Beware the Stalkers

In this game, I am playing a 2v2 on (Shattered Temple? I think). It was me and a Terran player (who promptly bailed) versus an old rival, Terran, and his Protoss buddy. This Terran person, ULIZERG (apparently his name was Ulises, but he didn't play Zerg), was a bit...

Starcraft II: Friends Indeed

Hello, it's me again! And it's Christmas! Huzzah to all those who celebrate it, and I thank ye for making it an actual holiday so I can relax a bit.

So, where to begin...

30 Minutes or Less

For this trio of experiences, I share my dismal skills with the much more affable and powerful David!

Unfortunately, I'd say that we didn't get a great start. In a 2v2 on Discord IV, it appeared that our opponents were actually VERY high...

Starcraft II: Staying Alive

Yep, it's me again.

So without further ado...

D-bagging 101

In this game, I was playing 2v2, all players, on High Orbit (I think?). We were all Terrans, and I wouldn't be wrong if I were to say that my opponents were well coordinated.

The game started pretty standard; I had absolutely no idea what my opponents were doing, while my ally and I were massing marines and marauders. Of course, my friend was able to mass more...

Starcraft II: Lessons Learned

Yes, it's me again (and if I'm spamming blogs, well, you people should blog!). Got my Starcraft II: Starter Edition running (downloaded from the official site, so no PS or BS, mind you). So, let's go over some basics first.

The Starter Edition only allows me to play four/five campaign missions, two challenges (which I should get to), a few selected maps (max are 2v2 maps, no higher than that), and a custom map named StarJeweled (which is a...

Just a game?

In every game--and I mean EVERY GAME--I hear the infamous words, "chill, dude, it's just a game."

Is it?

I mean, sure, we could just dust off our hats and go on to the next match, or leave to a different place in the cyberspace and be all whoop-de-doo. But is it just a game?

It's probably a real damn shame that it's come to this. What might possibly be worse than gamers who play too hard are gamers who play too soft. They have no...

Hand-Eye Coordination: Why I fail at RTS

Hello, folks! It's me again, here to saturate your blog tab.

Anyway, one of the earliest types of games that I've played between Sonic the Hedgehog and drowning people in Rollercoaster Tycoon in my younger years was real-time strategy games. You've probably heard it from a previous blog, and I may be suffering from serious memory failures, but hell, I'm willing to type it up again.

So here goes the story: my very first real-times...

Money Pit

Good news: I've lost most of my liquid assets!

Okay, that's probably not good news. I melted all of my doubloons in Puzzle Pirates back into Pieces of Eight so I could play high-end Texas Hold 'Em. As you can probably tell, that didn't end well. (Fortunately, my real-life assets are intact!)

So, during the weekends, I completely liquidated 300k PoE. That was pretty much all I had left of what PoE I had on hand. Most of my buy-ins to a...

This place... it just seems to echo...

...a thought that disappears into the caverns... and not a soul to hear it.

It seems as if this site's suddenly quieted. For just a day or two, it froze. Not a word nor a quip. Or so it seems.

Of course, it's not like that at all. People are milling around, sending fragments now and then, composing blogs as we speak, thinking of forum ideas to nag our minds. Yet few are posting; I will not debase...

I'll be honest: I don't play many games on a regular basis these days. Between college dilemmas and a psychologically/philosophically mental breakdown due to too much free time when there is, it's hard to squeeze even those few rounds in a game, let alone a few minutes (for non-FPS games, the phrase is more appropriate the other way around). Nevertheless, I stalk the forum grounds of games past and present, if only to recall my fractured...

Mythic 16

The relative sun stood low over the horizon, casting a dull shadow over even lowly rocks and plants. The plains was quiet once again; the echoes of war mere hours ago became nothing more than just that: echoes.

Nevertheless, the evidence remained. Some bodies were yet to be recovered, and alien blood painted a spectrum of casualties. The bright blue blood of a grunt mingled with the glowing orange plasma of a hunter,...

The First Snow

It was October 29, 2011. October, barely the peak of autumn. Some of the leaves of deciduous trees haven't even changed hues, retaining their green luster. The clouds overhead were dark, but they were not too dark, as an ominous thundercloud could be.

It was raining. The noise of gallons of water falling from the sky was unmistakeable. But then it changed. The water became lighter. It became colder.

It became snow.

At first, it was a...

As of late (and when I say that, I mean within the last decade), there have been a swarm of first-person-shooters, as well as a stew of so-called "defense" games (not sure what the official term is, it's where you pretty much have a base and fend off endless hordes of something-or-other). And more recently, many of these shooters have incorporated defense-style games into their arsenal.

Halo came up with firefight, where you, as a...

The Shadow of Doubt

Eagle opened his eyes, and looked above his rifle-turned-crude-barrier. He was shocked, as was the brute chieftain, to see Kai on the other end, defending against the gravity hammer expertly with his brute shot shield.

The admiral shoved the hammer rudely aside, before firing several rounds out of the brute shot, sending the chieftain flying backward.

Kai rubbed his injured head, a blackened char where the...

Is it ironic that the most activity to come was from presuming a bot was an actual person?
