I know I suggested this earlier, but it didn't get implemented :(
I want this because as of now, fragments are used for two different purposes - to put out isolated messages and to send messages to other people - which, in my opinion, should best be separated. And it's more intuitive, at least to me, to go to a person's ID to see what other people say to them, not the other way around. And the wall system makes it easier to implement wall-to-wall/view-conversation.
And then fragments themselves can be represented either as self wall posts that can then be responded to, or as a separate thing in itself.
With pings, it's pretty limited in terms of adding new features, because to query anything you have to text search for @[name]. And that's more of a hassle in a way.
If it's an issue with laziness on Vusys's part... I'd help... somehow?
Also to any objections to this on the ground that it copies Facebook and/or Profil3, pings copy Twitter. So there.
