So Sudden

Written by Gujju on July 30, 2011
I am not sure why, but I really felt the need to write a blog. At this very moment. I suddenly felt like I had a lot to say. So I guess this blog will be a smorgasbord of topics that will talk about my life as it's happening right now. (My way of saying 'random shiets')

School is out right now for me. I took 3 courses over the spring (May and June), which turned out to be near suicide, but I somehow managed to make it out. It actually wasn't that bad. I had school 4 days a week; Monday and Wednesday had one morning class, then a 6 hour gap, then an evening/night class, and Tuesday and Thursday was a class in the morning. During that 6 hour break, I had other people with me to keep me company, and when class ended at around 9:30pm, I would have buddies to commute home with, so despite all the work being condensed into just 2 months, it wasn't the worst thing I ever did.

Now that all that is over, I am working full time (sort of), which again, not the most pleasant thing in the world, but it keeps me busy and I am getting all the money I will need to buy all the fast food that keeps me going during the school year.

It occurred to me a few days ago that I am halfway done with my undergrad. Only 2 years and the life I have always known - a life of being in school - will be done. I will need to look for a job (a real one, related to my field, not this stupid Shoppers Drug Mart thing I currently have going on), and start thinking about like...savings, and bills, and having babies. I don't think I am ready for such a world.

Anime and manga. The little free time I have pretty much is wasted on this. I don't even think of doing anything in this heat but chilling in my cool basement and reading a short series, or trying to tackle my long list of anime.

Right now, at the recommendation of others, I am watching Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magika. And let me tell you, this is some dark shit for a Magical Girl anime. I am horrified by what I am watching to be honest, but it really is amazing. The character development is really interesting, the plot is fascinating, and the artwork is something different from what I usually watch. I am not done just yet, finding time between work and sleeping in gets difficult :P

I also have a few ongoing animes that I am keeping up with.

Hanasaku Iroha - it's a slice of life, but something about it is intriguing. About the antics of a girl working at her family's traditional inn.
Ao no Exorcist - definitely entertaining, typical Shonen but I like it. About the son of Satan's journey to be an Exorcist. I know, random :P
Usagi Drop - another sort of slice of life, but it's about a single, 30 year old guy who takes in his 6 year old relative when her dad dies and her mom leaves her. Its cute :)
Sket Dance - I can't begin to tell you how funny this anime is. I LOL, literally, every episode. Rare feat for me. Its about a small club who just do favours for people at their school.
Kamisama no Memo-chou - not sure if I even like this one, it is kind of like last season's Gosick, a small girl solving mysteries with her dumb male friend. I think Gosick set my expectations too high.
Natsume Yuujinchou San - third season of Natsume Yuujinchou, a really laidback series about a guy who can see spirits. Not much happens, but it has this appeal.
Mawaru Penguindrum - I cant even tell you what this one is about because I am still not very sure. It starts off really sad, then just gets WTF-ish. But for some reason, I dont hate it.
Ikoku Meiro no Criosee - So much slice of life. This one is about a young Japanese girl who goes to France to be a housekeeper for a man and his nephew.

SO yah. If you guys watch anime, lets compare notes on what we are watching :3 I just realized that is alot of anime to keep up with on a weekly basis >.>

I am not much of a skilled writer, but sometimes, I enjoy the feeling of typing out the random ideas in my head. A few months ago, I started working on a story based on a little idea I had from a dream. From what I have worked out in my head, it isn't a short story; more like several chapters long, but it is far from what is usually posted on VuTales, and I am not even sure I want other people to see it :P

BUT, I was thinking back to a short story I wrote in middle school. It was sort of the final assignment we had for our middle school career, just write sort of a dystopic story. My homeroom teacher for some reason thought my writing was poor, or maybe he was just pushing my buttons on purpose to motivate me, but I ended up writing something I was quite proud of. He ended up loving it too.

I have since lost this story, because, well, I was 14. I wasn't smart enough to back up my work :P But I think I might try to recreate it, and hopefully 6 extra years of education will have improved my writing skills and imagination. Whenever that gets done, I will post it, and hope at least one person thinks its good :3

Last weekend, me and my family drive up to Blue Mountain, Ontario, which, for anyone who does not live in Ontario, is about 2 hours north of Toronto by Georgian Bay, or right beside Lake Huron. The city is a big tourist attraction during winter for skiing, but it's pretty amazing during summer too. Here is what the actual mountains look like.

Out of sheer boredom, me and my cousins decided we wanted to climb the mountain. Stupid idea, there is reason a ski lift is needed for this thing.

As a city kid, I was absolutely amazed at how clean the water was at the beaches though. Toronto is like by Lake Ontario, so the beaches aren't too far, but I don't know anyone who goes to Toronto beaches to actually swim in the water. So being able to actually go into the water and not worry about smelling like fish after was miraculous to me.

In other fun news, I saw the final Harry Potter movie last week. Yes, I cried. I also left the theatre feeling kind of weird. No more books to look forward to, or movies to anticipate, it is VERY strange. I have been a fan of the series since the 4th grade, and now, after my sophmore year in university, it comes to an end. I guess this is nothing though, compared to how Star Wars fans must have felt :P

Ok, the feeling is gone. I don't want to write anymore, so: END OF BLOG. Look forward to my next one 9 months from now. -.-

I lol'd at the part about having babies.

The only shows I'm watching this season are HanaIro and Steins;Gate. I was planning on picking up Usagi Drop, but didn't wanna start any new shows.

Usagi Drop is pure HNGHHH
And Mawaru Penguindrum is god tier if you enjoyed Utena and Star Driver. It's been 4 episodes and I have no clue as to what I'm watching. And still love every second.
Should watch Gunbuster+Diebuster, two 6 episode ovas. Both awesome.

Im watching Digimon for some reason... Cant find anything else to watch ever since I got bored of watching bleach >_>

And you probably got another 4 years after your B.Sc (assuming your doing science)... Just finished my first year with psych, chem, bio, calc and phys for both semesters... That was killer @_@

I am envious of your not-too-bad, modestly enjoyable life.

I rewatched all of Digimon last summer, it was even better the second time around. Also, I am not doing anything science related. I am studying social work, so if i am lucky with the job hunt, I wont need to do my masters.

We seem to be on a similar track as far as being undergrads. Except I have three years left (my program is 5 years total, but the last two years are mostly being out in the field and observing, so it's not like typical school work. Technically I have one year left of classes, and then two years of observation and stuff).

Good luck to you with finding a job, hopefully it will be easier in your field than mine. All of my previous art teachers I've spoken to lately have told me to stay in school as long as possible, because there's just nothing available right now :(

The only anime I've bothered with lately is Madoka. I loved it so much that I made took over 1,000 screencaps and made 800+ avatars the second time I watched it xD
