What is 15 + 14? (Sorry, we have to ask)

A question you will all hate me for.

If someone's a complete asshole to you, but they're going through a hard time, should you completely forgive them for everything they've done just because of this?

I mean, really. I think once or twice I mentioned that jerk in my guild. Well, yesterday the guild leader said he'd had enough of him and he wanted him kicked. So I did the honours and everyone was pretty much like, "good riddance."

So when he logs on and finds out, he tries to guilt-trip us with the fact that his grandmother's having surgery. But how does that change the fact that he was and still continues to be a complete dick to us? Is that supposed to be an excuse for everything he does? I've been through a load of shit this year, let me tell you. My best friend died, my other best friend moved to fucking Korea, and MY grandmother's been in the hospital for a month hooked up to oxygen tubes. (no idea what happened to her) But you know what? If I was honestly an asshole to someone and I was punished as a consequence, I wouldn't QQ to them about how bad my life's been. No. I'd learn from my mistakes and STOP BEING SUCH A DICK.

I'm serious. Do you guys think that just because someone's life hasn't been so great, we have to forgive them for everything they've done, or else we're insensitive douchebags?

I'm honestly sorry about his grandmother and all, and I hope she's fine, but that doesn't change the fact that he was horrible to us and the guild leader wanted him gone.

P.S. I'm aware that I'm a total douchebag. You don't need to tell me.

For me, nothing gives anyone the right to be a dick with others. And if his/her grandmother's having surgery, (s)he should have told you guys in the beginning, not in "the end".

Guilt-trip him with that.

There are times when there are legitimate excuses for being an asshole, but your grandmother having surgery is not. Maybe if his grandmother had died, but not that.

Depends on what kind of person you are

I'm pretty forgiving, personally, but in your case that just seems like an excuse for him to use

I don't play wow so don't burn me at the stake if i'm wrong but can't he just join another guild, if he doesn't have any sort of friendly connection to you guys why would he want to come back so bad?

i'm sure he can do whatever activity with another guild that he can do with yours, except he'll have to stop being an asshole for anyone else to invite him to one, it will knock him down a notch or two

Grandmas are irrelevant to being a total dickwad.
