Right, so lets cut to the chase.

Recently my girlfriend spent money on a gift that was worth about a hundred dollars. (iPod Nano)

My mouth dropped when she opened the little red box after school one day.

"Fuuu--, Grace, u srs" I spatter.

"Take it," She insists.

I stare at the box for a good 30 seconds.

I reach for it but then quickly pull my hand back.

But then I reach for it again.

I slap my hand with my other hand.

In conflict with myself, I do what always do when I panic.

"WAT IS DIS"

"-_-"

The thing is I would've gladly taken the present if I could return a favor that was equivalent to an iPod Nano.

All I have are toothpicks.

We argue about the present for about another 20 minutes, shoving the box back and forth between us.

After the school grounds are nearly empty I finally take the present.

I grasp it in my hands, gripping it as if it was a nuclear bomb to set off if it ever hit the floor.

I don't know why I was so nervous, I was pretty pissed off actually.

"I really wanted to get something for you, you know, for making me so happy." (Summarized, she talks for like a good 3 minutes)

She crosses her legs, puts her arms behind her back, and tilts her head and smiles. Holy crap shes adorable when she does that.

"Fine." I say.

"Really?" She claps her hands together and gives me the cutest pair of eyes on the planet.

"Yep."

I walk her to her house, then we chill for a bit.

We watch a movie but I wasn't really paying attention.

My thoughts were still on the Nano.

I guess she must've known something was wrong cause when I was about to leave she watched me with caution.

I strap on my backpack.

"Alright, I'm gonna go."

We hug, she gives me a peck on my cheek and I go out through the front door.

I start walking away and she watches me as I go down the block.

I turn back when I make the corner and look at the door.

It's closed.

":T"

I sprint back like a retard.

I slow down to tipy toes once I get close to her house, and I drop the little red box back in her mailbox.

I'm going to accept the gift, but once I get something that I can give her back >_>

Knowing her she'll probably walk all the way to my house and sneak the present back to my mailbox.

God I love her

I wouldn't mind the person I love spending money on me.

But if it was some total complete random person.............

I have no problem spending money on people I love, and I think that makes it easier to accept. I have no problem accepting something without anything to give back.

Pro tip: Accept it. I can honestly say when I give something to someone I love, I don't care if I get anything back. Just the happiness they get from it is enough. Seeing their face light up is worth far more than the money (or time) I spent. It's really hard to describe the feeling, but it's one of the happiest moments you'll experience. Don't reject it. It will send her into a whirlwind of doubt and worry. Did she do something wrong? Do you not like her anymore? etc. etc.

I know that sounds terribly cliche and cheesy, but it's the truth.

Very true. I'm gonna tell my girlfriend that.

Well, I have, but not in that way
