I am alive for another day
My human instinct tells me to live.
We wish not to die, so then we pray;
I must avenge; I cannot forgive.
With my gun, I shall make them eat lead.
To make them suffer, ‘til my last breath.
The fields of poppies will hide the red.
But there’s something to fear more than death.

I can see the truth of the world now.
They tricked us into fighting their war;
Dropping our humanity, we vow
To finish to fight, with death galore.
We do not think; ignorance is bliss.

Release me from this nightmare, kill me!

I'm not normally one to write poetry, but I had to for English class. For some reason, I was compelled to share this though. I do not know why. This is based on World War I. The rhyme scheme is obviously ABAB (and AA for the refrain). All lines are 9 syllables long. Title is in the... title.

Also, I had to present this in Death Metal, which is a VuTales favourite (screamo). I failed. Oh well, I still did the Hare Hare Yukai dance in front of the class! (lolfeg)
